Resin bound surfacing combines aggregate and resin into a continuous finish. It can bring a driveway, entrance and side path together without the regular joints of block paving. Choosing the colour is only one part of the design: the existing construction, vehicle use, falls and transitions to the house determine whether an overlay is suitable or a new base is needed. Our site visit starts with those practical questions before we agree the finish.
What goes into the work
A decorative surface cannot repair movement in the ground below. We assess cracks, settlement and levels before discussing whether to retain the existing construction. An overlay and a full rebuild are different jobs: your quotation should make clear which is proposed, what preparation is included and how edges and access covers will be finished.
Resin bound surfacing can allow water through, but the surface alone does not make the entire driveway permeable. The underlying construction and ground must also be suitable. We consider where rainwater will go and how the drive meets the entrance, garage and neighbouring boundaries before choosing the construction.
Look at aggregate samples alongside the brickwork and any existing paving. Borders can define parking areas and keep the transition to planting neat. Think about the route from the car to the front door, bins and side access as well as the main parking space. These details are easier to agree before work begins.

That depends on the stability, condition and levels of the existing base. We assess the driveway before recommending an overlay. Cracking, movement or unsuitable drainage may mean rebuilding the base instead.
Area, excavation, base repairs, access, edging and the chosen aggregate all affect the quote. Tell us whether you want to replace the whole drive or resurface an existing one, and include photographs if available. We provide a written quotation after assessing the property.
Keep leaves and loose debris from collecting and follow the installed system’s cleaning instructions. Ask for advice before using strong chemicals or aggressive pressure washing. Report movement or damage early so the cause can be assessed.
The installation conditions and specified resin system determine the curing period. We will explain when the finished driveway can be walked on and driven on at handover; arrange alternative parking for the work and curing period.
